To underline this, it is good to know that TBB has its NIWO licence to do so. The NIWO licence is also known as the Euro licence and is compulsory for professional goods transport. The licence is tested regularly.
Testing and Entrepreneur's Licence for Transport Companies
In order to qualify for this NIWO certification, professional transport companies are checked for the following:
- Creditworthiness
as a company, you must have sufficient financial strength to be able to guarantee the progress of the business and thus also guarantee the shipment of goods of third parties.
- Professional competence
The company has the correct licences and has managers with a recognised professional diploma in professional transport. This deals with laws and regulations and professional safety.
- Reliability
You have an Integrity Declaration for Professional Transport (IVB); issued by the Municipality or by Justice. This way, companies know they are dealing with a reliable carrier.

What does the NIWO do?"
- National and International Road Transport Organisation
NIWO issues licences for transport companies carrying out national and international transport of goods. These permits are required by Dutch and European legislation, such as the Road Transport of Goods Act. Without these permits, it is illegal to carry out international goods transport. In doing so, the NIWO also supervises transport companies to ensure that they comply with legal requirements and regulations relating to safety, reliability and financial stability. This supervision helps maintain fair competition and prevents abuses in the transport sector. The NIWO also acts as an industry organisation providing information and support to transport companies. They advise on laws and regulations, help apply for licences and offer training to improve professionalism within the sector.
